Goldmembers win the "Glück auf Cup" in Essen, Germany

The alumni team of the Lamas Maastricht went to the Glück auf Cup '14 in Essen last weekend and managed to show that they did not get rusty at all. After a hard tournament with temperatures way above 30° celsius, the Goldmembers won the Cup for the second time!

In an exciting Braveheart final the Goldmembers Freddy and Alex were able to win both rounds!

Congratulations to the Goldmembers! During the next tournaments some Maastricht players will continue to join for some Lax-Fun and more great victories are sure to come.

Berlin Open '14 - Mixed Team

Some of the Lamas Maastricht players participated in the Berlin Open tournament last week. Due to some logistical challenges, the team pinnies of the mixed team had not been ready and it was decided to play in the Maastricht jerseys.

Maastricht players formed the mixed team with some of the Aachen A-Team players as well as some former Lamas and some additional pick-ups during the tournament. Being part of the tournament with the German, Swiss, Austrian and Czech national team was a great challenge to get game experience and get to know lacrosse players from all over Europe.

Lamas Maastricht hope all you guys finished your exams successfully! Have a great summer and see all of you back during the INKOM or in the new academic year of 2014/2015.

Scrimmage 2.0: Lamas vs- A-Team

After starting with a fairly new team in February with quiet some rookies, the Lamas Maastricht scheduled another Scrimmage against the Aachen A-Team at the field in Maastricht.

Three month of training paid of and all rookies were able to play and showed their best skills. Aachen went ahead to a 0-3 lead in the first quarter, followed by the 0-1 in the second quarter, sending the players into half-time with an overall score of 0-4.

The Lamas defense did it best to minimize the damage but to many turnovers when Maastricht was in offense made challenged our defense a lot during the first two quarters. Having only two subsidies due to quiet some injuries in the Lamas team (which was fully present at the side-line, responsible for consuming the leftover alcoholic beverages of the rookie night), the physical endurance of the team was tested to its limits. A final result of 1-6 for the A-Team was a fair results. The Lamas showed their best effort and especially in the second half the result of 1-2 showed that the we compete on the same level as Aachen.

This was the last scrimmage with Aachen this year. However, Maastricht and Aachen will form a mixed team and participate in the Berlin Open '14.

Scrimmage time: Lamas vs. A-Team

After the long winter-break it was time for a scrimmage against the A-Team from Aachen again. Dealing with the challenge of having lost a few members for the new semester, the scrimmage was the first game for quiet some rookies of Lamas Maastricht.

After 4 x 15 minutes in the cold, no one of the players was able to remember the result anymore and most of the female fans had consumed to support the teams in counting. A few Aachen player's suggested that the score was somewhat around 1:18 for the A-Team, however the Lamas themself concluded with a a scrore approximately around 1:1 - one goal of Mauro Jülich for the Lamas.

The scrimmages with Aachen will continue.
